Ode To A Cat
I think that I shall never see
A cat that sheds as much as thee
Thy fur that sticks is all around
On chairs, on mats in little mounds
I sweep the floor, you shed some more
I wash the rug and you just shrug
You should give thanks I tolerate that
Or you would be a crew cut cat.

WEBMASTER'S NOTES:
For some reason, long wiped from my memory, I harbored a distinct dislike for the "yellow cat". No matter the reasoning for my dislike, I just did not want one.
Well, being married, I tend to be susceptable to changes of attitude, sometimes brought on by some unknown reason only a wife can create. So begins the tale of the little yellow kitten who has, by now, firmly wedged himself into my heart.

nce upon a Saturday morning, hot and humid, (normal I might say for this part of the South Woods), I escorted M'Lady love to the local Flea Market
(that's a Swap Meet to some of our cousins in places distantly removed from My South.) The day, as I said was HOT! The temperature was in the upper 90s, and at the time of my attitude change, the sun stood at it's highest, brightest point in the sky.
After touring the vast midway full of dealers of first one thing and then another, making our choices, bartering to our benefit, and having already loaded our purchases in the family land cruiser, we decided on one last pass around the center of the Market, where most of our interests lay. There in the center of activity, haphazardly placed in the hot Southern sun, sat a hand made wooden cage about a foot square in size. I recognized the cage. It was the same one our eldest Cat, Buddy Bear and his siblings had huddled in, under similar circumstances, waiting, hopefully, to be adopted by some loving human. That was just shy of three years before.
We were instantly drawn to the cage I suppose, because of the fact it was familiar to us. Inside were two tiny kittens, one a lovely gray tabby, and the other a fluffy cream colored creature with very large, very sad eyes.
I took one look, and in my most firm, no nonsence voice proclaimed, "No More Kittens Lisa! We have enough to take care of!" Not waiting for her reply, I walked off!
To make the long story short, the three of us stopped at our local pet shop on our way home, to stock up on more kitten chow, along with a few new kitten toys. My dislike for yellow cats was permanently cancelled that day.
